This October, sickle cell and public health experts from the African Region and around the globe will gather for one of Africa’s premier event for sickle cell disease on the continent — the 1st African Congress on Sickle Cell Disease(ACSCD 2019). With an expected 800+ attendees from around Africa and rest of the world, the ACSCD 2019 gathering will deliver an educational and impact focused platform for the collective discovery of evidence based and sustainable solutions to the challenges of sickle cell disease.

Registering for the Congress and Exhibition as part of an international delegation is the most affordable way to attend the conference and build lasting relationships with professionals in the global SCD community.

Travel to Nigeria

It is recommended that all international attendees review the requirements of Immigration related to flying to or transiting through Nigeria. For more information, please visit this page.

Citizens of Economic of West African States (ECOWAS) do not require entry permits into Nigeria. All visitors not exempted from entry permits are advised to apply and obtain appropriate visas from the nearest Nigerian Mission – Embassy, High Commission or Consulate before entry into Nigeria as visas cannot be issued at the port of entry.

Early application is advisable to avoid delay.

Vaccination

Health authorities recommend vaccination against cholera and yellow fever from all visitors. Anti-malaria prophylactic is also recommended.

International Invitation Letters

Upon request, ACSCD issues International Invitation Letters to international attendees wishing to attend the congress.

ACSCD cannot accept any responsibility for Visa applications nor will it influence the processing of Visas. Applicants must check with their respective authorities to determine exact processing requirements. Where an attendee is unable to attend the convention because of their failure to obtain a Visa, the cancellation policy for registration fees will apply.
